David McCallum and Robert Wagner

I was surprised to learn today that the two men not only are working on NCIS series but were in another series together called  Colditz. They play prisoner's of war who are trying to escape.  Found the program on YouTube and will have to watch it.

It is very British!! We grew up with it after Uncle, and then it was released on DVD in recent years. Enjoy!

It is also the source of Meany's peach-eating screencaps.

Sadly it seems not to have come out for region 1 yet

They also played together in an ep of "Hart to Hart." Small world, isn't it? You're in for a treat. Colditz is a terrific show and David's performance is outstanding.

Funny you mentioned Colditz isn't available in region one yet. Last year I talked my local library into purchasing it and they agreed until they found out about that little glitch.

I use to watch Hart to Hart didn't know David was on it.

I made a mistake once not checking the region, never again.

Have you watched the Court Martial ep of colditz yet? Wagner and David together, WOW! You'll love it.

Yes if you're going to give any episode a try, try Court Martial.

All you need to know in terms of set up - I'm not actually sure if Colditz as a concept is famous outside Britain actually - Colditz is where the Germans put all the Prisoners of War who kept escaping. It starts around the Battle of Britain, so Wagner's being nominally on the British Side because obviously he can't be on the American side yet.

It is particularly "realist" in it's style which you have to get used to from a modern perspective - but it's very, very much worth it if you can get into it. It's generally considered a very important television series here from a "golden age" and it's very historically accurate in terms of plots and characterization as it's made at a time where many of the parties involved in the real thing could be set consultants. David McCallum actually went with the real escape officer back to visit as a sort of accuracy reccy.

Personally I think in terms of characterization it's the best work McCallum's ever done - he makes interesting and unexpected acting choices and his character has a fantastically nuanced development arc across the two series.

However, the realism and the nuance does require commitment.

I feel a distinct urge to rewatch now. It's been a long time.
